1. John Middleton (d. Onslow Cty, NC in 1744): I need help with the ancestors of John Middleton who died in Onslow Cty, NC in 1744. I have traced him back to Elizabeth Cty (Hampton), VA where on 16 Dec 1717 a land deed records his purchase of a lot on the South Hampton River from a Robert Minson. Thus, he was an adult at the time. He is last recorded in county court records there on 15 Nov 1727 in which it is stated that he is "going out of the county." Can anyone give me some clues as to who his first wife, his parents, etc. might have been -- also his second wife's last name? He had 8 children (1 by his unknown first wife and 7 by his second wife, Sarah). Their names were Samuel (first wife), Sarah, Ann, John, Isaac, Susannah, James, and Sabra. An Abraham Mitchell was a neighbor of his in Elizabeth City Cty, VA and was also closely associated with him in Onslow Cty, NC. His mark, on documents in both Elizabeth City Cty, NC and Onslow Cty, NC, looked like a capital "I" with a short horizontal line drawn through the middle of the vertical line. (like |-+-|, but turned upright).
One fact is certain. He is not the same person as John Middleton, the grandson of Robert Middleton (b. 1625) in Westmoreland County, VA. The latter John, according to Westmoreland County records, was dead by about 1733. My John did not die until 1744.

2. James Middleton and Stephen Middleton, both living in Duplin County, NC about 1800, moved within the next few years to Barnwell County, SC. Can anyone help me with their descendants? James' wife Elizabeth was a Mallard.

3. James Spicer of Onslow Cty, NC married Catherine (Kittie) Middleton (b. 1786) of Duplin Cty, NC. They moved to Memphis TN. Their son, Robert Middleton Spicer, married Caroline Steele of Cumberland Cty, NC. They both died and were buried in Memphis. Can anyone help me with their descendants?
