Welcome!The primary focus of this website concerns the family history of the descendants of a John Middleton who lived in Elizabeth City County, VA; Carteret County, NC; and Onslow County, NC. He died in Onslow County, NC in 1744. Thereafter many of his descendants, as well as allied families, lived in Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties of North Carolina. Contents include basic genealogical information (parents, children, dates and places of birth marriage and death, and places of burial), wills, court records, summaries of genealogical research, reunion information and forms, and photographs. From time to time, other genealogical and possibly non-genealogical topics may also be included. Over time, contents will be added and will evolve as seem appropriate A brief description of how the website is organized along with some basic information on how to navigate the site can be accessed by clicking on "Website Layout & Navigation" in the left panel. It is strongly advised that you review this page if this is the first time that you have visited this website or if you have had problems finding the information that you want during previous attempts. To access the main genealogical information, click on "Descendants of John Middleton" in the bar to the left, read the introduction page, and then proceed to the data by clicking on one of the links under the North Carolina graphic. Clicking on either "Click Here to Start" below the map or "His Family" in the navigational bar just below the upper solid line will carry you to John Middleton's family group page. To access the cemetery section of the website, click on "Middleton Cemeteries in Duplin Cty, NC" in the bar to the left. This section of the website is organizationally separate from the "Descendants of John Middleton" section. However, the two sections have extensive cross-linking between the two, permitting one to go back and forth between cemetery/gravestone and family group pages by clicking on the appropriate, colored and underlined hyperlinks. Most of the site is public and can be accessed by anyone. Some areas, from time to time, however, may be intended only for family members and will require a user name and password to gain access.
