NOTES:

1.    The death year is in error on the main stone; it is correct on the top brass plate.  His will was written in 1801 and probated in 1805.

2.    The information concerning the 1774 land grant is in error.  That land was well south of Grove Swamp and the land that Capt. James Middleton owned near Grove Swamp.  The recipient of that land (100 acres) was Capt. James' nephew James Middleton, Jr. [a.k.a. James Middleton (Miller)], son of Samuel Middleton, Captain James Middleton's half-brother.  It was sold by this nephew in two 50 acre parcels before Capt. James bought the first of several purchases of land near Grove Swamp.  For detailed information, click here.

3.    Individual grave makers for wife (Mary Nixon), son James, son David & wives and Mr. Spicer either never existed or are no longer present in the cemetery itself.
